WHAT IS A FREEHAND TATTOO?
With a freehand tattoo, the design is drawn directly onto the body and then tattooed. Instead of looking at the skin as a two-dimensional canvas, the composition emerges from its natural shape and movement.
Every body is different. Muscles, proportions, and movements all influence how a tattoo looks. By drawing directly on the skin, I can adapt lines and shapes precisely to it—so that the tattoo doesn’t just sit on the body, but harmonizes with it.
DRAWING DIRECTLY ON THE SKIN
The design is created directly on the skin. It starts with an idea, not a finished template. I begin drawing directly on the skin and develop the motif step by step. Along the way, we experiment, adjust, and modify until the composition feels right. Your vision is just as important as my artistic perspective. Through this collaborative process, something emerges that couldn’t have been fully planned in advance.
TATTOOING & REFINING
Once the design is finalized, the tattooing begins. The lines are refined step by step and adapted to the body.
The design may still evolve even during the session. A line might be adjusted, or an element might be made larger or smaller—always with the overall look in mind and in consultation with you. I also take the body’s movement into account. A good freehand tattoo shouldn’t just look good in one position; it should move with you and, in doing so, develop its own dynamic.
WHY I WORK THIS WAY
For me, a tattoo doesn’t start with a finished image, but with an idea. I want to leave room for that idea to develop—together with you and through direct dialogue.
My goal isn’t simply to bring my own vision to life. Nor do I want to just trace an idea that’s already fully formed. I’m interested in what lies in between: discovering what emerges when your wishes and my artistic approach come together.
This requires openness, trust, and sometimes even the courage to let go of an idea. Because not everything has to be set in concrete from the start. Quite the opposite: when there’s room for change, things can emerge that you couldn’t have planned beforehand.
That’s where the magic happens.
When all these elements come together, something truly unique is created—a tattoo that wasn’t simply copied from a template, but one that could only have been created this way, just for you.
